The term hot tub is generally used when the tub includes hydro or air massage systems. That said, when many people hear the phrase hot tub, they tend to imagine a fully electric spa, similar to a Jacuzzi.

 

Therefore, if you want to clearly communicate that the product is heated with wood and includes massage features, the most accurate descriptions are:
“Hot tub with a wood-burning stove” or “wood-fired hot tub.”

When you see a hot tub listed for 4–6 people, keep in mind that 4 adults will fit comfortably, while 6 is the maximum capacity, especially if some of the users are children.

 

Another important note: in many cases, a hot tub with an integrated wood-burning stove includes a raised section. This elevated area works perfectly as a seating spot for children or as a comfortable place to sit back and relax.

 

Modern square wood-fired hot tubs resemble traditional Jacuzzi models. Their main advantage is more legroom at the bottom. What is Thermowood?

Thermowood is spruce wood that has been treated with heat, steam, and oils to increase its stability for outdoor use. Unlike untreated wood, Thermowood is much more resistant to warping and maintains its shape over time.

Durability & Insulation

Thermowood is extremely durable and long-lasting, thanks to its resistance to rot and fungal decay. It’s built to withstand all weather and climate conditions.

It also offers excellent thermal insulation, reducing heat loss by 20–25% compared to untreated softwood.

Wood Treatment

A surface treatment helps preserve Thermowood’s original rich colour for longer.

Thermowood can also be left untreated, as it is naturally weather-resistant. However, as with any untreated wood, it will gradually age to a silvery-grey patina over time.

Heater
